A few of the many interesting plants of the island
These huge prickly pear cactus plants appear all over the islands. The land iguanas make their living by lying underneath them waiting for one of the fruits to drop down to them. They have a lot of patience!
This is a passion fruit plant, Galapagos style. It is an agressive take-over "weed" in the part of the islands where there is enough water for it, and is considered a pest. Very pretty though!
Shirley was highly amused when we came across this prickly pear which seemed to have a strong resemblance to a familiar cartoon character - can you guess which one?
